• What is a blockchain transcript?

  Maryville now offers blockchain transcripts, allowing students to securely own their learning credentials. Owning your own learning credentials through blockchain technology allows you to easily access, share, manage and verify your diplomas and certificates, transcripts, and other learning achievements.

  A blockchain transcript is tamper-proof and can be shared and verified easily and securely. In this format, you will own and control your learning credentials so you can decide what you want to share and with whom you want to share easily from your personal devices.

  When issued, the transcript will be permanently secured to the blockchain, which will create a unique link which you can use to share your transcript with whomever you designate and that these third-parties can use to confirm the authenticity of the official transcript on the blockchain issued by Maryville University.

  Maryville is one of the first universities in the world to support the use of blockchain technology for transcripts. We recommend checking with the organization or individual with whom you will be sharing your blockchain transcript to confirm they will accept it in this format. • What is a PDF (portable document format) transcript?

  A portable document format (pdf) transcript is an official transcript delivered electronically over a secure network to the email address you designate as the recipient.

  Students must enter a new request for each transcript recipient each time you want the transcript to be sent.

• What is a printed transcript?

  A printed transcript is a physical paper document. To be considered official, it typically needs to be mailed directly to the recipient in a sealed envelope; it is recommended that you check with the organization receiving the transcript for their specific delivery requirements. For instance, some schools will not accept a transcript as official if it is hand delivered by the student, even if it is in a sealed envelope. When requesting a printed transcript to be delivered via mail, there is a cost for mailing; expedited delivery options are also available.

• What if I have a hold on my Maryville account?

  If you have a hold on your account preventing the release of transcripts, please contact Academic Records.

• How do I ensure my transcript shows my completed degree or certificate?

  For PDF and paper transcripts:
  • If you are graduating soon, when you submit your order select “After Degree is Awarded,” and your transcript will not be released until your degree or certificate has been conferred.

  For blockchain transcripts:
  • Please wait until your degree or certificate has been conferred before requesting the blockchain transcript. If you have just recently completed all coursework for your degree, you can check your unofficial transcript (note: you must have active Maryville login credentials to access the unofficial transcript), which will show your degree or certificate once awarded. In most instances, the degree or certificate is awarded within 2-3 weeks of the end of the term.

Alumni Pre-1982 Transcript Ordering

If you studied at MU prior to 1982, we release official transcripts in a paper format by following these steps:

1. Complete the Transcript Request Form
2. Print and sign the form. Maryville University cannot accept electronic signatures on the document per federal privacy laws.
3. Mail, fax, or bring the completed form to the Academic Records in the Gander Hall Visitor’s Center. The mailing address and fax number are listed on the form.
